Healthcare is certainly one of the most promising application domains for Virtual Reality. In the recent years, new solutions have emerged relying on virtual reality headsets to e.g. accelerate anatomy training for medical students, or help surgeons prepare for complex surgical procedures.
What was missing until now was the ability to offer such experiences not only to individuals, but actually to grouped audiences, be it several students for grouped training, or medical staff during multi-disciplinary team meetings. For this purpose, a unique solution, applied to liver surgery , has been developed together with UZGent University Hospital, that allows multiple people navigating within the same virtual environment or organ of a patient, with direct connection to the CT scan data and other radiologic images.
More to learn soon as the results of the medical study currently conducted in several European hospitals will become public !
